THERE IS NEED TO REVISIT THE POWER RELATIONS BETWEEN LOCAL GOVERNMENT AND THE OTHER TIERS OF GOVERNMENT TO SALVAGE GRASSROOTS PEOPLE BY DR. SALISU BALA SARKI, FICEN

 The key to a Country's Development is Deeply Rooted in Grassroots Administration. In a Huge Country like Nigerian, it's Vital that People in Different Parts of the Country Feel the Presence of Government and its impact. Nigeria has three tiers of Government , the third tier which is closer to the People is Local Government. The Local Government has Vital Roles to Play in Nigeria's Social, Economic and Political Development. However, Despite the Local Government Reforms of 1976, 1984, 1988 and 2003, Local Governments in Nigeria Still do not have Autonomy. Instead, they are mere appendages of the State Government. This has made them to be Ineffective and to Underperform. In my Book Titled; THE IMPERATIVES OF GRASSROOTS ADMINITRATION IN NIGERIA (an essential guide to community project planning). I argued that Local Government Should be Granted the Required Autonomy. The Book is Divided Into Six Chapters, it Examined the History of Local Government in Nigeria, the Various Reforms the Local Government System had Undergone, Duties, of Elected Officers, their Relationship with Key Functionaries in the Local Government  and how this Affects Development at that level. In the book, I also Recommended Solutions that will aid an Effective Grassroots Administration in Nigeria.
